The OCS Leadership Tribe December 2021 newsletter highlights the Association of the United States Navy’s push for building a stronger Navy. Specifically, 355 ships. In 2017, Congress passed into federal law a 355-ship Navy fleet. Presently, less than 300 are operational and stand at the ready.
Some military leaders recommended to Congress that 400 ships are needed to protect the United States and display global strength. However, more ships is not as easy as turning on a light switch.
